Our aim is to be a community in which all Catholic students of the University can find a home, and deepen their faith through both stimulating catechisis and social events to strengthen ourselves in faith and friendship.
Thursday Dinner Talks
Our main weekly event is our Thursday night dinner and talk. We gather in the Narthex of the Chaplaincy at 7pm for a free light meal cooked earlier that evening by the society’s committee and other volunteers, at 7.45pm we have a guest speaker invited from across Oxford and beyond to cover a range of topical issues, following this we have a time to socialise as a community before concluding at 9.30pm with a period of Eucharistic Adoration, Benediction and Compline.
In addition to our Thursday dinner talks, the Society also holds a range of other social activities to help foster a sense of community, of particular significance are the Ceilidhs in Michaelmas and Hilary Terms and our Summer Garden Party in Trinity term, in addition we hold a range of themed bar nights at the Chaplaincy and our end of academic year ‘Sacred Heart’ dinner and our annual black tie ‘President’s Dinner’ – the most prestigious gala dinner in the Oxford Catholic Calendar.
