On 6th February 2020, we were honoured to welcome His Imperial and Royal Highness Archduke Imre of Austria who shared the inspiring story of his great-grandfather, Blessed Karl of Austria.
Karl led an exemplary life of prayer and piety, deeply devoted to Our Lady, first as husband and father, and later as Emperor and King of Austria-Hungary. He was committed, too, to Christian service in politics and public life and strove to establish a country governed by the principles of Catholic social teaching. HI&RH shared with us ways in which the life of his great-grandfather can speak to our current times. After the talk, members were privileged with the opportunity to venerate a first-class relic of Blessed Karl, made available to us thanks to the generosity of the Fathers of the Oxford Oratory.
